The number of searches for dog friendly holidays have increased by over 60 per cent when compared to last year, and this number is ever increasing. Being able to take your dog on holiday is becoming more popular, so for that reason, we have come up with a few aspects you may want to consider when bringing along your dog:
Regular stops
Being cooped up in a car for long periods of time can be uncomfortable, but toilet breaks and coffee stops give you the opportunity to stretch your legs. Your dog will need these regular stops as well, to ensure they get the chance to have a run around. It has been suggested by the AA that you should stop every two hours if you are on a long journey, which will give everyone the chance to get some fresh air and have a walk about!
Food
This may seem like an obvious thing to bring, but it is sometimes the simplest things that slip our minds! With easy access to beautiful coastal walks and the fabulous Blue Flag beach on your doorstep here at Braddicks, your dog will most certainly work up a big appetite! Bringing your own food and water bowls should also be considered to be brought along as well, as this can help create a more settled environment for your pet if they have something similar associated with their day to day life.
Lead
Dogs are most certainly welcome here at Braddicks, and in the surrounding Westward Ho! and North Devon area. However, we do ask that your extended family member remains on their lead when they are on the site, except in our designated “dog areas” that we have on site. This will ensure that everyone will be able to enjoy their holiday to its full potential!
Comforting item
Bringing your pet along on holiday can be an exciting prospect, and we are sure your dog will enjoy their stay just as much as you. However, having a piece of home away from home such as a blanket or their favourite toy may help to settle your dog in more quickly, and encourage them to have a better night’s sleep, meaning they will be prepared for all the exciting activities the next day will bring!
Bed
Similarly, bringing your dog’s bed with you will also create some familiarity and help them to settle in at night. We are sure that people staying in our pet friendly villas will have a great night’s sleep, and we want to ensure that your faithful companion has the same experience.
